The Chemical Service of Porto is an activity carried out in the 'port area, through the professional figure of the "Chemist of Porto." The activity of the chemical service of the port is carried out mainly in supporting the shipbuilding industry and the transport maritime and consists of performing, in advance, all those investigations aimed at assessing the risks associated with repair and maintenance to be carried on board ships.
 

This activity also covers technical assistance in coastal deposits and Industry, for the execution of high-risk jobs, the control of the classification of "dangerous goods" to be loaded to be landed, transhipped, and transit, according to the national, European and international standards and technical assistance with analytical testing laboratory during the execution clean-up operations of the sea and during washing or cleaning due to releases of hazardous goods.
