It is an organ of the Ministry of Health, which is responsible for the surveillance and prevention of diseases of animal origin, the Veterinary Service is established in the ports where you import or export live animals or frozen meat, fish, etc..
The Veterinary Gioia Tauro Port also has the functions of Border Inspection Post as authorized to exercise the controls EU Community for all goods of animal origin who come from abroad and are released from the port of Gioia Tauro, in the European Community.
